Individualist

I’ve been picked on in elementary school, bullied in middle school, and in highschool I discovered that kind guys always come last. Being sick and tired of being taken advantage of I decided it was time to stand up for myself. Not by physical force, but by making new standards to live by.

Individualist, n.: One that asserts individuality by independence of thought and action.

Being an Individualist is different from being selfish, antisocial, or a “loner”. A selfish person will keep everything they have and refuse to share, stepping over others to achieve there goals in the process whereas an individualist acknowledges the presence of those around him or her while respecting the individual liberty of others by refraining from initiating coercion against them. I won’t go out of my way to help or assist other people, however this does not make me a selfesh person: Being an individualist is a two bladed sword, in return I never ask of other people’s help or assistance.

Although keep in mind that “self-interest” is linguistically related to the word “selfish”, which has led to the two terms often being confused. Self-interest and selfishness are two entirely different things.

Lastly; an individualist embraces being alone, whereas a loner would become depressed. Individualism dose not restrict or limit ones social interactions therefor I do not consider myself to be antisocial, I just prefer a more independent lifestyle.

Now don’t get the idea that I’m trying to get some attention by complaining about my life, I am not a psychic vampire. Life sums up in three words; “Better than average” it never comes easy, it’s a savage world. It’s a harsh reality but this how I see things, perhaps now people will become more understanding as to why I live my life by such a moral code.
